Healthy Habits for Back to School Season

A new school year is the perfect time for a fresh start, and healthy habits are just as important as school supplies. A little planning now can help kids feel their best once the routine kicks in.

Sleep is one of the biggest factors in how kids show up at school. Younger children need around nine to twelve hours a night, while teens do best with eight to ten. A calming bedtime routine, along with limiting screens before bed, can make mornings a whole lot smoother for everyone.

Nutrition matters too. A solid breakfast and a lunch packed with fruits, vegetables, protein, and whole grains help keep energy and focus steady throughout the day. Staying hydrated is just as important, so a good water bottle can become a daily essential rather than an afterthought.

Movement is another key piece of the puzzle. Aiming for about an hour of activity a day, whether it is a sport, a walk, or just active play, supports both physical health and mood. The right pair of sneakers or comfortable activewear can make staying active a lot more fun.

Building these habits does not have to be complicated, and it does not have to be expensive either. Our stores are full of everything families need to make healthy routines easier, from durable water bottles and lunch containers to cozy pajamas, supportive footwear, and planners that help keep mornings on track.

So while you are checking off your back to school list, take a moment to stock up on the little things that support a healthy year ahead. Your family will thank you for it.
